Your skin health is essential for your overall personality. Having healthy, youthful skin can boost your confidence. Time, lifestyle and environmental stress can take a toll on your skin and make it look older. Signs of aging such fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin can make it look dull and lifeless.
Fortunately, a dermal filler treatment at the Cosmetic Clinic can help you reverse these signs of ageing and bring back youthful, glowing skin. It can lead to a visible difference in the fine lines and wrinkles on your face and leave your skin feeling bright and youthful. It can help you rejuvenate and contour different areas of your face such as your cheeks, jaw, chin and even your lips.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are FDA-approved gel-like substances that are injected into the skin to restore fullness and volume into the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. These fillers are made up of natural substances such as Hyaluronic Acid,Calcium Hydroxylapatite, Poly-L-lactic Acid and so on. All of these substances are safe and naturally present in our body. They are biodegradable and completely compatible with your body. We use these fillers to provide immediate but temporary results, since these temporary fillers are the safest option for our patients.
It is important to have the same level of scrutiny while choosing an injectable filler treatment as that of a surgical treatment. The safety of the treatment not only depends upon the skill, background and the expertise of the dermatologist, but also depends on the staff, hygiene of the surroundings and quality of fillers used. At the Cosmetic Clinic, our dermatologists are qualified and have been trained in the finest institutions to ensure that your experience is over and above satisfactory. Our staff undergoes ongoing training to constantly improve the quality of their work so as to make the experience smooth and seamless for you. We maintain the most stringent standards of hygiene in our premises and facilities because we prioritize your safety above all. Lastly, the quality of our medication and fillers used is at par with the global standards of product quality, so be rest assured about your dermal filler treatment at the Cosmetic Clinic.
Are temporary dermal fillers safe?
Yes. Dermal fillers are safe in most cases. However, it is important to speak to our doctor and understand the source of the filler used, and understand whether you’re allergic to certain substances. There is a limited risk of animal related disease transmission or allergies, however if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is not advised to undergo a dermal filler treatment.
Which filler do you need?
Everyone’s skin is different, and so are the skin issues. Every filler is formulated differently depending upon texture, density, injection depth etc to suit your area of concern. Our dermatologists will guide you through the process and help you with the most suitable filler.
What to expect during your dermal filler treatment at the Cosmetic Clinic?
Prior to your Dermal Filler Treatment, it is essential to speak to our dermatologists and understand whether the treatment is suitable for your skin type. Our dermatologists are most likely to assess your past medical history to gain insights about your previous skin concerns such as infections (if any), allergies and medications. It is important to disclose even the smallest skin concerns to the doctor, so they can take all of the necessary precautions. It is also suggested that you discuss your expectations from the treatment, along with the risks and advantages of the treatment. Additionally, you might have to take pictures for a before-after evaluation and long-term reviews.
During the treatment, our doctor will clean the required area and follow it up with a local anaesthetic to ease any pain or irritation during the treatment. The doctor will then administer a precise amount of the filler strategically beneath your skin.
Depending upon the nature of the filler and your treatment, you may be able to witness results immediately. Sometimes, patients experience mild bruising and swelling, however it is important to note that these effects are temporary and subside quickly. You can get back to work almost immediately, but it is recommended to take a day off from exercise or any other strenuous activity. If at all you experience any redness or swelling, our dermatologist will prescribe medications and/or ointments to reduce the discomfort. It’s best to not take any steam or facial procedures 24-48 hours after the treatment.
How long do the results last?
The longevity of the results depends upon a variety of factors such the formulation, the area treated and the patient. Usually, the denser the filler is and the more deeply injected it is, the longer it lasts. However, there is no specific rule of thumb that determines this.
Hyaluronic fillers are the most entry-level fillers used for beginners, they last for about 6-18 months, post which our dermatologist will repeat the treatment by varying the depth and the quantity of product injected. The fillers in certain areas are bound to last longer than the others, for instance, lip fillers wear out faster due to the nasolabial folds whereas certain cheek fillers last longer.
Fat fillers are meant to last indefinitely and can be a great choice for some patients, however they must be willing to commit to the change and choose the treatment only if the dermatologist has their required aesthetic style.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Are there any side effects of the treatment?
The treatment does not have any major side effects if conducted by an experienced dermatologist. However, if your skin is sensitive, you may experience redness or bruising which are temporary effects and will subside within 1-2 days after the treatment.
How often should I have the treatment?
It is advised to have the treatment twice a year to maintain the effect of the filler. We recommend a top-up session when you feel like the product is completely absorbed.
